Veterans’ Day
This is a day that unfortunately goes unnoticed by many. I just wanted to try to remind you, my loyal readers, to thank a veteran today.
You see, if it weren’t for our veterans, we wouldn’t enjoy many of the freedoms that we have today. When our forefathers signed the Declaration of Independence, they began that quest for true freedom. They paid a great price for it.
Our veterans have fought, bled and died, and have kept us a free and sovreign nation. Had those soldiers not fought, we would no longer rule ourselves as a nation. There’s no way of knowing which nation might occupy our land and rule over us had our soldiers not fought. There’s no way of knowing which of our freedoms would be stripped from us.
I personally have never served in the armed forces. Some of you may hold that against me, and that’s ok. Others of you know that I have said that if I was ever drafted that I would go willingly. Regardless, I am truly thankful for those who have served, both voluntarily and those who were drafted.
Tell a veteran thank you today.
Thanks for the post. As you know, both authors of our site (www.rantsandstuff.com) are vets 🙂
We have done 0.00001% of what others have done for the military, but as you said, we’ll go willingly when asked. It is impossible to predict the future, and I’d hate to think what we’d be like if those had not come before us. You can look at the US as a glass half full, or half empty as it seems that many do. I like to think of positive things when I get that half empty feeling. The military is one of the positive things that I think of.
oops, read the last line. Thanks to Jonathan’s father in law, who I understand is a former Marine. Marines are the heart of the military… probably the backbone too 🙂
